Bill Maher, erstwhile genius (just ask him!), is at it again – attacking President-Elect Trump on behalf of his :”Deep State” masters. He arrogantly attacks Mr. Trump for being so incredibly dumb – just like the “unenlightened” angry white males who voted for him (well, I did vote for Trump here in Trump-sylvania, but not because of my ethnicity). He says that Ronald Reagan (whose “Mr Gorbachev” speech did more to free the people of Eastern Europe for at least a generation than anything anybody alive ever did) would be rolling over in his grave if he knew that Trump was in league with the Russians (or some such balderdash). Here’s my reply:
What if I were talking about Germany, and I made no distinction between the Germany of today under Angela Merkel and the Germany under Adolf Hitler? Would you be saying “FDR would be rolling over in his grave if he knew that we were friends – no, ALLIES – with Germany! He gave his life to fight against Germany, and Donald Trump just flippantly continues dealing with them! He’s a close, personal friend of their leader! FDR would NEVER have been allies with… THEM!”
That makes about as much sense as treating the modern Russian leadership as if they were the Soviet Union. There’s about the same difference between Merkel and Hitler as there is between Putin and Brezhnev. I’m not defending Putin as a leader (any more than I would defend Angela Merkel and her “open door” policy for Islamic terrorists), but there’s no equivalence between him and the other Communists. Yes – he’s former KGB, and he is a strong man-type, but he’s not interested in spreading the Communist tyranny all over the world. Putin has kicked your globalist friends out of Russia – at least you can give him that.
Bill, you’re still a “Shill for Hill’ “, I can see. Thank God (I mean Yahweh… Elohim… Abba Father) for the wisdom of the Electoral College! It makes it much harder for you and your friends to cheat. With Republicans in power (no thanks to GOP members Romney, McCain, and others), we can hope and pray that nobody will try to make our republic into a democracy – which would happen if we eliminated the Electoral College. And if you don’t understand my last point, Bill, you better brush up on your American Government.
|From Batleby’s QUOTATION:||From Batlebys.com – here’s the story of the famous quote from Dr. Benjamin Franklin;
“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
“A Republic, if you can keep it.”
|ATTRIBUTION:||The response is attributed to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN—at the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, when queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation—in the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention.
McHenry’s notes were first published in The American Historical Review, vol. 11, 1906, and the anecdote on p. 618 reads: “A lady asked Dr. Franklin Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy. A republic replied the Doctor if you can keep it.” When McHenry’s notes were included in The Records of the Federal Convention of 1787, ed. Max Farrand, vol. 3, appendix A, p. 85 (1911, reprinted 1934), a footnote stated that the date this anecdote was written is uncertain.

Let’s keep it, indeed!
