Jefferson Smith for President!
I’ve decided who I’m going to vote for in the Pennsylvania Primary on April 29th. That’s right: Jefferson Smith… the guy Jimmy Stewart played in “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington.” I’ve linked to some clips if you haven’t seen the movie. If you’ve never seen it – watch it now. I see that it’s on “Pay-per-view” – that must mean that “the powers-that-be” don’t want you to see it. Go against their orders – SEE IT!
Why am I voting for Jefferson Smith? Because I won’t vote for any of the Republicans left running. I have supported Rand Paul from Day 1 – primarily because of his strong stand on Pro-Life issues, the real center of Republican politics. But – well, he isn’t on the ballot, having dropped out months ago. I was going to write him in, but… would that make the statement I want to make? I don’t think so – so I’m voting for Jefferson Smith.
I feel it is only right to say why I won’t vote for any of the remaining three. First: I have never liked Donald Trump as the Republican candidate from the beginning. For many reasons… but especially since he’s not strong on Right To Life issues. I also felt that it was strange that the media were pushing him on us for a year: from March 2015 to early March 2016. Yes – they were pushing him, not-so-subtly. My question was: “WHY? Why push someone I KNOW they hate?” My answer was that he was the easiest Republican to shoot down by the Dems (excuse my NRA-style analogy). He did a new Democratic campaign commercial for them every time he spoke. They acted like they were “Shocked! Shocked – to find… GAMBLING going on here!”( like Renault in “Casablanca” as he was given his winnings). They fanned themselves furiously like so many Scarlet O’Hara’s, all the time, begging him to go on. Finally, after Super Tuesday, when it looked like Trump was the Republicans’ choice, the “kill” signal was given by George Soros: they turned on Trump viciously, keeping up the patter since then. They have no intention of facing Trump in November. They wanted him on top so they could knock him down. The “Trump Riots” have all been orchestrated by Hillary’s people (and some of Bernie’s) with the media reading the party line that “the violence has been caused by Trump’s violent rhetoric.” That was obviously a bold-faced lie, but, as Goebbels always told Hitler, “When you lie, lie BIG!” Or something to that effect. It still works today…
I personally didn’t think Trump was passionate about the heart of genuine Republican issues. As I said, pro-life is at the center of a conservative Republican worldview. So are lower taxes, smaller government, Freedom of religion issues, Freedom of speech issues, Gun rights, and so on. These are things that I didn’t perceive Donald Trump to be about. He has jumped on many of these issues, now, but it looks more like political expediency.
Ted Cruz, despite him being born in Canada, was on my short list for awhile. I liked the way he stood up for these issues above – and he seemed sincere. He was on the right side of the “Audit the Fed” movement – in favor – until he stabbed that movement in the back. When a committee he was on got together for a critical vote, he was nowhere to be found (out on the campaign trail, ya see.) Since then, he has joined the media attack on Trump (your fellow Republican, Ted! Remember Reagan’s Eleventh Commandment” – Never attack a fellow Republican?) He followed Marco Rubio in repeating the above lie about “Trump’s violent rhetoric causing riots’ instead of the real culprits: Democrat operatives. Finally, he acted like a “Master Politician” by stealing the delegates in Colorado and Wyoming. I don’t care if it was legal or not – it had a pungent rotten smell to it. You lost my vote, Ted.
John Kasich… see “CRUZ, TED” above … joined media assault… not really a conservative, either.
I could write in Ben Carson, too. But I want to make a statement: I, for one, am sick of the manipulation of the news by the powers-that-be. I want to demonstrate my deep desire to vote for someone – even though he is a fictional character and Jimmy Stewart has died – who passionately loves what this country should be. It wasn’t that way in 1938, when Frank Capra made “Mr. Smith”; it isn’t that way now. But… I’m going to make a statement – we need Jefferson Smith for President!
P.S. “What about Jesus”, you ask? Well, of course – but there are a number of reasons I wouldn’t write Him in. First of all, He’s already the Master of my life, my Sovereign. Second – it’s a step down for Him. He IS King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He rules over the whole earth, but, right now, by His Providential control/ One day – oh, let it be soon! – He’s coming back to slaughter His enemies and literally rule as King from Jerusalem. He will rule “with a rod of iron” from Israel… from Jerusalem, for one thousand years. Then, He will reign forever in the New Jerusalem. So … president of the United States is definitely a step down – way down! “Even so – come quickly Lord Jesus!”
