March 25, 2016 This was originally written as a comic “liberal rant” in November of 2015. It seemed appropriate, since Mrs. Reagan just died, to repost it in her honor. It is parody; it is satire… but I hope it makes a serious point. My genuine opinion? I give Nancy Reagan a lot of credit for a lot of things. The greatest thing she did was love, support, and, finally, take care of her husband – all under a great deal of pressure. She wasn’t perfect – no human is, except, of course, Jesus – but she did what she believed was the right thing to do with all she had. Her campaign to try and stop drug use (encouraged by the liberals, starting at least in the ’60’s up until this day) was unwavering and courageous in the face of withering opposition and continued mockery. The point of my comic satirical essay is to say that ALL government programs have been, more or less, unsuccessful. Drugs are still a scourge on this nation, and it’s getting worse. The “Just Say No” campaign asked for a simple commitment to abstinence from drug use – no more, no less. In the very least, it worked as well as the other anti-drug campaign – which is to say they all failed. She at least should be honored for genuinely trying something that she honestly believed would help.
“Just Say No”: a Liberalish response to the College Scholarship “Say Yes” Program:
“Say Yes”? Are you referring to that REALLY DUMB campaign led by Nancy Reagan (whose husband was Ronald Reagan) that DIDN’T WORK – haw, haw, haw, haw, haw! I mean – how STUPID can you get – “Just Say No!” Leave it to Republicans to come up with a TOTALLY FAILED policy that didn’t work. Too bad we can’t have more of the anti-drug plans that DID work – like “The War on Drugs” (since LBJ, right?)… Oh – that didn’t work? Well, what about Jimmy Carter’s plan… which was, exactly…? Well, after that RIDICULOUS “Just Say No!” (tee hee) campaign invented and run by NANCY REAGAN – who was the wife of RONALD REAGAN – which FAILED because it was SO STUPID – we had Hillary Clinton’s plan which was… well, it was WAY BETTER – and SMARTER because Hillary is the smartest woman who ever – (no, I don’t know why we can’t say the smartest PERSON… anyway…) whatever her plan was, it OBVIOUSLY WORKED because – OK, I know we’re still doing the War on drugs – thing… because – see, it works! (doesn’t it?)… then we’ve had Michelle’s anti-drug campaign – that was so intelligent and so effective – just like her campaign against junk food has reduced obesity in children – OK, obesity in children has gotten out of control, but… not because of Michelle’s efforts – because she care’s SO MUCH – not like NANCY REAGAN and her “Just Say No!” DUMB campaign when her husband RONALD REAGAN was president… because he had the lowest IQ of any president EVER – even lower than George W. Bush… because he went to Eureka College (tee hee, titter titter), not a fine institution like Occidental University… or Columbia Law School… or (drum roll, please) Harvard University… By the way – did you know Rand Paul never finished his Bachelor’s Degree program?… Like Howard Dean said about Scott Walker… END OF TRANSMISSION
Howard Dean: “The issue is, how well educated is this guy?” said Dean, a former Vermont governor who ran for the Democratic nomination in 2004, on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Feb. 12, amid a surge in polls for Walker. “I worry about people being president of the United States not knowing much about the world and not knowing much about science.”
Bloomberg View’s own Al Hunt said Feb. 1, 2015, that some strategists have worried privately the issue could cause problems for Walker “in battleground upscale suburban areas” during the general election. But, Hunt pointed out, business leaders Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Larry Ellison never finished college, to say nothing of Senator Rand Paul (who still finished medical school), Washington, and Lincoln.
Joe, in my real voice: To question Rand Paul’s lack of a Bachelor’s Degree – he skipped right past it on to medical school – is like questioning Kobe Bryant’s ability to play basketball in the NBA because he never played in college.
