OK – Julian Bond just died – long time NAACP leader and civil rights activist. President Obama put out a statement, commenting on his death, honoring him. Let’s see who else the President has put out an official statement on in the last two years:
People Mr. Obama has honored at the time of their death:
People Mr. Obama has NOT said anything about at the time of their death:
Shirley Temple Black
Lady Margaret Thatcher
Sir Richard Attenborough
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Dean Jones – he just died on September 1st – not that the media or Mr. Obama cared. The President just simply ignored him, so he can join this illustrious group. Most of the people he disrespected at their passing were women and/or Jewish – he hates both. Unless, of course, they are “cool” – that’s the only reason he said anything about Leonard Nimoy and Harold Ramis. He might not have realized they were Jewish – I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. They’re “cool” – Harold Ramis did “Caddyshack” and “Ghostbusters”, along with writing much of the script for “Animal House” – solid reasons (to him) for a Presidential Staement. And who is cooler that Mr. Spock?
By the way – did anybody else notice what was NOT mentioned (at least in the stories I saw about his death) about Dean Jones? He was an outspoken Christian – a fact that probably cost him many roles. I remember him on Phil Donahue several times; debated Madalyn Murray-O’Hair, as I recall. I should identify her as a FORMER atheist – she was apparently killed by one of her own (another atheist) in 1995. She was the plaintiff in the Abington case that got the Bible out of American schools. I say “former atheist” because – well – now she knows, doesn’t she. Anyway – Dean Jones is in the presence of his Lord and Savior – praise to Yeshua for him!
Trivia quiz: Who was the only woman to lie in state in the Capitol rotunda, a rare honor usually reserved for former Presidents? Answer (from the Wikipedia entry): In 2005, upon the death of civil rights activist Rosa Parks, Congress permitted her remains to lie in honor at the Rotunda as well; Parks became the second African-American and the first woman to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda. Do you recall who was President in 2005? (No fair Google-ing it!) Yes, it was noted right-wing hater and white guy who hated the black people of New Orleans, George W. Bush. (Who, by the way, was not REALLY arrested for cocaine possession on July 24th, 2014, despite the “Empire News” obviously fake report – which they know is fake – but I’ll bet there are Obama voters who believe it!) There’s a picture of the President with the caption below. GWB said this about the deceased civil rights activist he had the honor to publically eulogize: President George W. Bush and Laura Bush present the Executive Branch Wreath during a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Rosa Parks, in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., Sunday Oct. 30, 2005.
